Five works from the series Black and White Movies (2013) by Mika Taanila are featured in the Niemistö Collection exhibition “Heart Open to Art” at Aboa Vetus Ars Nova, Museum of Archaeology and Contemporary Art in Turku, Finland.

Synopsis:
Suddenly there is an enormous amount of time. At first everything is possible. Anything might happen. Gradually the possible becomes impossible.
Mika Taanila’s solo exhibition “In Between the Plates” is open at the Podroom Gallery, Cultural Centre of Belgrad from 11 March until 15 April 2015. Curators: Aleksandra Sekulić and Dejan Vasić.
Three tape loops spin in reel-to-reel tape recorders. The piece is inspired by the idea of weekly housecleaning as mechanical music. These field recordings of an everyday chore have been reworked into a musical fantasy.
